We have some incredibly exciting news to share with every member, friend, and supporter of Woodart Workshops — we have officially landed on Instagram and TikTok! After so many requests and so much enthusiasm from all of you, we are thrilled to announce that we have expanded our presence online, bringing our craft, our community, and our creativity to two of the biggest and most vibrant social media platforms in the world. This is a huge milestone for our club, and we cannot wait to share this new chapter with you all.
For years, our website at https://www.woodartworkshops.co.uk has been the heart of our online presence — where you can find meeting details, read our newsletters, view our gallery, and keep up with everything happening in our workshop. But now, we are taking things a big step further. By joining Instagram and TikTok, we are opening up our doors wider than ever before, giving you brand new ways to see what we do, connect with us, and share in the joy of working with wood, no matter where you are. Whether you are a long-standing member, someone who has visited us before, or someone who has yet to discover our wonderful club, these new channels are designed to bring our work, our people, and our passion right to your screen.

Both platforms will be packed with fresh, exciting, and engaging content, created especially to show you exactly what makes Woodart Workshops so special. Here is a little taste of what is coming your way:
- Behind-the-scenes access: Step inside our workshop space and see what really happens on club nights. Watch as members work on their latest projects, share tips and tricks, help each other master new techniques, and enjoy that wonderful, friendly atmosphere that we are famous for. You will see the lathes spinning, the tools at work, and the timber being shaped into something beautiful — right from the very start.
- Step-by-step process & techniques: We will be sharing short, clear videos and posts showing you how we create our pieces. From selecting the right timber and preparing the blank, to turning, carving, sanding, and finishing — you will get to see every stage of the process. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced turner, you will pick up new ideas, learn new skills, and see how we tackle different challenges.
- Showcase of our work: We will be posting photos and videos of the incredible pieces made by our members — from small, intricate items and decorative turnings, to large, detailed sculptures and functional works of art. This includes our famous Space Collection, which you may remember was featured in our recent exhibition, and where one special piece now sits proudly in the Tunnock’s headquarters display cabinet, celebrating that amazing story of the Apollo 16 mission and the Tea Cake that went to the Moon!
- Demos & expert insights: We regularly welcome nationally recognised experts to demonstrate their skills, and now you will be able to see highlights from these sessions online too. We will share clips of master turners and carvers at work, explaining their methods and showing you what is possible with skill, patience, and imagination.
- News, events & updates: Be the first to know about our upcoming exhibitions, special workshops, charity events, auctions, and meetings. We will keep you fully informed about everything going on in the club, so you never miss out on what is happening.
- Community stories & member spotlights: We want to celebrate the people who make this club what it is. We will be sharing stories from our members, talking about their projects, their journey with wood art, and what being part of Woodart Workshops means to them. You will get to know the faces behind the work, and see just how friendly, supportive, and talented our community truly is.
- Fun, inspiration & creativity: Above all, these pages will be a place of inspiration. We want to show everyone just how satisfying, rewarding, and enjoyable working with wood can be — and how anyone can get involved. We will share ideas, designs, and plenty of beautiful work to spark your imagination and make you want to pick up a tool and have a go yourself.
Why are we doing this? 🤝
As a club, we have always been proud to be member-led, community-focused, and open to everyone. We believe that woodturning and woodcarving are crafts that should be accessible to all, and that the benefits of working with wood — creativity, relaxation, confidence, social connection, and skill-building — are for everyone to enjoy.
By joining Instagram and TikTok, we want to:
✅ Reach more people: Show the wider community what we do, and invite more people to come and join us. Remember, you can turn up with nothing at all, use our lathes and tools, and take part for just £5 per session — we want everyone to know how easy and affordable it is to get started.
✅ Share our knowledge: Help more people learn about this wonderful craft, whether they can visit us in person or not.
✅ Strengthen our community: Give our existing members and friends new ways to connect, share their own work, comment, like, and be part of the conversation — even when they are not in the workshop.
✅ Promote wellbeing: We know from our work with social prescribing and the University of Chester that working with wood is powerful for health and happiness. We want to spread that message further, showing how creativity and socialising can support people far beyond what medication alone can do.
✅ Celebrate our achievements: We make amazing things, and we want to show them off! From our charity work to our award-worthy pieces, we are proud of everything we do, and now we can share it with the world.
